The largest-selling audio plug-in of all time and the industry standard in pitch correction that became a household name due to Cher and T-Pain has reached v7.0.
Every music producer needs Auto-Tune — that goes without saying — and the seventh update brings with it the following new features:
- Integrated time correction and manipulation
- Evo technology
- Create target notes from MIDI in graphical mode
- Adjust throat length
- Enhanced amplitude envelope display
- Increased vertical zoom range
Time correction allows you to move mistimed audio about, just like with the the Flex Time tool in Apple Logic. The Evo technology has been adopted from Auto-Tune 7′s cheaper yet novel alternative. As for the ability to create notes via a MIDI file, this is very welcome, allowing you to skip the process of drawing notes in via horizontal lines over time. The dial to adjust throat length has been borrowed from Antares AVOX Vocal Toolkit software, and let’s hope more features from this plug-in get brought over in the future [we doubt the chorus ones will, as they are more creative rather than functional].
Here is a chart displaying the difference between Auto-Tune v7.0 and its older versions:

Until the end of November, owners of Auto-Tune 5 or earlier can upgrade to Auto-Tune 7 Native for $129.00, otherwise it’s $149. Upgrades from Auto-Tune Evo are $129, whilst LE and TDM versions are $279 and $169 respectively. All versions of Auto-Tune 7 are compatible with Mac or PC in AU, VST and RTAS formats. To purchase an Auto-Tune 7 upgrade, head to the Antares Software Upgrade page and follow the directions there, otherwise you can buy it outright at the Antares Online Store for $399.
