iPad Ableton Live Controller

Professional sequencer-controller software is starting to emerge in the industry for Apple’s iPad, opening up the first possibilities of true touch-screen music production.

Griid is such application for Ableton’s Live software. Superstar minimal-techno DJ Richie Hawtin is promoting it, and he must have been lapping up using Griid on stage with iPad before anyone else:

Griid allows you to control Ableton by touching and with simple gestures … at distances of up to 100 meters from your computer. It’s aimed at the performer. Why, you could crowd surf while bringing in the next beat.

Griid is available in three forms: a free cut-down version, a regular version and a Pro version that gives you more clips to work with at any one time, costing nothing, £3.49 and £14.99 respectively.

This video truly shows the exciting potential of Griid:
