The much-maligned software copy-protection key has been reduced in size.
People hate the iLok because — they cost $40, they have a finite amount of space per license for no other reason other than to scrounge more money from users (each iLok could potentially hold thousands of licenses), iLoks cannot have licenses removed, forcing individuals to buy new iLoks for new software, even if they don’t use the old software.accidentally removing an iLok can result in the blocking of software until you personally contact the developer, and iLoks cannot be plugged in next to one another because of their ridiculous design unless the user purchases an additional adapter from the iLok website.
One of these problems can result in ugly scenarios like this:

How to get the smaller iLok?
New boxed versions of Pro Tools 9 and latter versions of Pro Tools 8 come with them, although there is no word on how to purchase these keys separately yet. Whether you can transfer old licenses to the new iLok is unknown, but we say extremely likely.
Keep your eyes peeled to the iLok website or come back to AudioBeef to discover the eventual release of the smaller iLok.
